Homeschooling does not end with high school graduation

These days, this is how I spend much of my time.

I read books about accounting, chemistry, trigonometry, and electrical engineering, along with several books for English reading and writing courses, all in an effort to try to answer my children’s homework questions.

I went to see the counselor with my 17-year-old yesterday to find out his GE requirements for electrical engineering to transfer to a 4-year university. His goal is to earn an A.S. degree in mathematics before transferring to a state university.

This is his student educational plan.
He will have to maintain at least a 3.0 GPA to be accepted into engineering at a state university.
We are in it for the long haul.

Snow Trip

This weekend we took a little jaunt up to play in the snow.
Here we are at our usual spot.

Not much snow here.
Those mountains in the distance should be covered in snow.

We threw a few snowballs.
Mostly, this snow was too shallow and dirty.

We decided to find a better spot to play.

Here we are. This spot looks pretty fresh.

Off they go!

The wonderful world of snow!

We had a great snowball fight.

Fresh Mountain Trout

We had a great time hiking part of the Pacific Crest Trail http://www.pcta.org/ . As you can see the lakes, mountains, wild flowers, and the brook trout were beautiful. It was evident why we try and do this once a year. The pictures don’t do justice. When we got home my husband cooked up the trout with nice glass of wine, some shrimp, salad, and tater tots…the fresh trout was delicious. I was so amazed at the flavor of the trout that I asked what seasoning he use…he said same as usual…it was the freshness that makes them taste so good.

The Pumpkin Spice Would Have Been Nice

http://unforgettablefashions.blogspot.com/2013/11/classic-coats-for-football-games.html

Today, my daughter and I went on our early morning walk in hopes of enjoying the special holiday blend of Pumpkin Spice Cappuccino at AmPm, only to find that our local shop no longer has the frothy, sweet drink available! I have been looking forward to it all year - it is only available during November and sometimes, December. I never even had one cup of it this year! The friendly girl who often works there told me they were all out of it for the year. What? How can that be! I so want my Pumpkin Spice Coffee. I guess I will have to settle for the Pumpkin Spice black coffee and add some Pumpkin Spice flavored  creamer. Better luck next year, eh?

Time for a Glass of Iced Tea

It’s Friday, and I am so glad. It has been a long and difficult week. I am going to put my feet up...and have that glass of iced tea.

I hope you all are able to have a few moments to enjoy life's simple pleasures together.

I will leave you with some photos from a visit to the California State Railroad Museum taken may 2013
