Oh, So Many Tasty Temptations!

This is a photo from another year, but it still represents me BEFORE I started my diet (August 27 - 14 long weeks ago) this year.

After three days of delicious Thanksgiving feasting, I slipped up four pound on the scale. I have been working hard all week to shed that holiday cheer.

Last night, I was SO tempted to eat a slice of fresh homemade BREAD with BUTTER! But I made it through the evening, and I am happy to say that this morning, a week later, I am back to where I was before Thanksgiving.

I am determined to work diligently for the next three weeks before the Christmas Eve– hoping to lose five by then.

Focus! That word keeps me on track. It is a simple word, but so powerful.

So many tempting delights EVERYWHERE I look. Pinterest is such a wonderful distraction. However, I try to avoid the food world on Pinterest. Instead, I look at cozy rooms and holiday settings.

I wanted to post a photo from Pinterest, but I was not able to get permission, so you get a picture of my living room, instead.

~ Now you can see where I sit when I am visiting you ~

  1. You have the sweetest home, my friend. I love how warm and inviting it is :)

And look at you! You are so beautiful. I admire your diligence and I wish you all te best. I have a terrible sweet tooth, but lately when I have too much sugar I have an awful tummy ache so I have been try to cut back and I must say it was quite hard at first, but after four weeks it's getting much better. Now if only I can make it through the holidays..... :)

Enjoy your day! My cousins 9-month-old girl is coming over today {we watch her every week}. Love, hugs, and blessings to you!

    1. Good morning dear Stephanie,

You always amaze me how you can eat sweets and stay so slender! Sweets and I just don't get along that well - I just get all plump with sweets. I have noticed that the fewer sweets I eat, the less my stomach wants, so that's a plus.

I have never been naturally slender. My average weight throughout the years has been around 140-145. But this last July, I was up to 160! My husband and I started our diet together. He easily lost the 10 pounds he wanted to lose. He loses weight while he still enjoys all his normal treats, just in moderation. Moderation keeps me around 140, but I want to be 125. Don't tell anyone - that's a secret :) I am currently 134. My final goal is 7 weeks from today.

Have fun with your little cousin!

      Love and hugs,
      ♥Hope

  3. Oh, I'm so glad you couldn't get permission to post the interest picture!!! Whatever it was, it could NOT be as beautiful and cozy as your living room. Your decorating is a work of art.

I've changed my mind about staring into your window. If I DID live across the street from you, I'd be dropping in constantly to sit in this room and chat.

  5. You are just to darn cute (really, I mean that---smiles) ---your home is so adorable and inviting...we (meaning me) shall not discuss weight, lol...I have a big issue with that subject---I was anorexic up into my 30th birthday (when I had my son) and now 18 years later, I am staying pleasantly plumped. Since I have been in school the last 2 yrs, I have dropped nearly 30 lbs, thanks to walking all those hills/ mountains.

    ANYWAYS---Thank you for the smiles...Blessings

    1. Hello dear Linda,

I support being pleasantly plump. I have been happy being my plump self for many years, but I also LOVE pretty clothes, and I have such a difficult time finding things that look good on me at my age. So, for now, I want to slim down a bit. Vanity, vanity, vanity!

Isn't it great to lose 30 pound simply by going about your day to day life? Good for you!

And, thank you, dear Linda, for being so nice to me. I love your sweet/fun comments.

      Hugs,
      ♥Hope

    1. Hello Kim,

So nice to see you hear again. I love having you visit with me.

Actually, I think this is the perfect time of the year for my dieting. First of all, it means that I am not gaining even more, that I then will have to lose after the holidays; and second, there are so many fun and exciting distractions to help get me through each day.

I also love that the days are shorter and night time comes sooner. I usually am in bed no later than 8:30. But I do like to get up early - sometimes around 3:00, but usually between 4 and 5 o'clock. Mornings are easier than evenings.

      :) Hope

  8. Hope, Your home and hearth are so cozy and inviting!

You mentioned your husband lost his weight quickly, for some reason men do....

My sister and I went on a lo carb diet and I only lost 8 lbs. which was where I stayed...but she on the other hand, had more pounds to lose and it did take longer, of course, for her to lose it....I do think after the New Year, she and I will try it again...wish us luck!

I think after Thanksgiving we weigh more because of water weight, as there is so much salt in the dishes we serve.....and of course those wonderful desserts. anyway, that's what I blame it on!! :-)

BTW, is it raining in your neck of the woods? It is coming down pretty good here.....

  17. Hope- I was able to join that time! At first it didn't work - I think it is because I double clicked. Once I tried it again only slowly clicking ONCE it let me.

That's a sensitive clickie for some odd reason.

Anyway, yay - and you look adorable at any size, seriously - and your jammies are over the top cute!

Take care- I am being (kinda not really) careful with what I am eating lately and it is DIFFICULT this time of year for sure! Good luck - and have a blessed and truly happy Advent season.

    Hugs.
