We watched White Christmas while applying the lights.
Lizzy and I spent the afternoon stringing popcorn, first while watching While You were Sleeping, and finishing while listening to Christmas music.
Bill went out to buy the all-necessary traditional eggnog and can of flavored popcorn for our family evening of decorating the tree.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to start the Christmas season off. I love how you strung popcorn on the tree. I've never done that, but might do it in the next couple of days. I think it's really pretty. We took a couple of days to decorate because we went and cut our tree down on Saturday since 3 of 5 of our kids were at sleepovers on Friday. We didn't want them to miss out. I'll post pics on my blog, too.

What a heartwarmingly wonderful sounding day and celebration of the beginning of the holiday season. I haven't had one of those tins of popcorn since I was a wee little girl. I'll have to comb the old interwebs and see if anyone (here in Canada ideally) makes a gluten-free version of them (popcorn itself is gluten-free in its natural state, but the seasonings and toppings that get added to it in such tins certainly aren't always).

ReplyDeleteWe have one tree that I try to give a Victorian look, and then one with all of our collected sentimental treasures. We put our large tree up after Thanksgiving too, which is an artificial tree that we have had for umpteen dozen years that is dubbed the "monster tree." It is in such sad shape that it has to be wired together here and there due to some broken parts, be we are so sentimental about it that we can't let it go... :) Hugs to you!

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful Christmas tree, and the popcorn... We did that with our girls when they were young and at home with us. So many beautiful memories. I have started doing it again as it suits our country cabin that we live in. Our rabbit pet that lives freely in the house and is potty trained finds his way up the tree to eat the popcorn and cranberries though, but, it is Christmas for him too right?
I enjoy coming to visit you, though it isn't as often as I would like. That was a sweet comment you left on Stephanie's blog. Thank you!
